Sira, Nuclear Energy and Research, produces a compact, low cost, radiation tolerant camera which is available for use in harsh applications such as in-core monitoring in nuclear power plants.
Sira's APS250 camera uses a 'spill box' configuration with a minature acamera head operated from a remote control box. The camera head itself is a mere 53cm diameter and 35mm long, making it ideal for use in tight spaces such as reactor cores. It uses a specially designed CMOS active pixel sensor and electronics to resist high raditaion doses The sensor is capable of withstanding elevated temperatures of up to 65C, making the camera less reliant on cooling than other products
