NDT Technician II / Gulfstream Aerospace - Appleton WI
High School Diploma or GED. ASQC certification preferred. NDT Level II certification in three (3) disciplines. Documentation is required. See Other Requirements for training hours. Four (4) years related technical experience. Experience requirements may be decreased by one (1) year for ASNT certifications. One (1) year NDT experience on aircraft supporting airworthiness decisions.
Position Purpose:
In a team oriented environment, performs all tasks in area of responsibility in a timely and efficient manner to ensure aircraft parts, sub-assemblies, major assemblies and installations are built to type design data.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions: 1. Performs non-destructive tests (NDT) and determines product acceptability to the authorized limits of the NDT level obtained in accordance with prescribed methods and procedures. 2. Records, organizes and evaluates test results and enter results into applicable documents. 3. Ensures compliance to all radiation safety rules and regulations and provides protection to self and others during testing. 4. Maintains equipment and assures calibration for tests to be performed. 5. Maintains inventory control of area equipment.
Additional Functions: 1. Works with and assists other NDT Technicians as required. 2. Coordinates NDT inspection workload according to priorities, efficiency and cost effectiveness. 3. Provides technical assistance to subordinate level NDT technicians. 4. Performs process control on area inspection equipment. 5. Performs post inspection corrosion prevention on ferrous parts. 6. Performs exposure room interlock safety checks, establishes radiation safety barriers, zeros pocket dosimeters, operates radiation survey meters and completes applicable survey logs and forms. 7. Performs magneto-optical eddy current imaging (MOI) inspections for 2nd layer corrosion detection. 8. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENT: Candidate must have an FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Tech License
Other Requirements: 1. MAUS-V, Omni-Scan, hardness testing experience preferred. 2. Proficient in blueprint reading/interpretation, shop mathematics, and QA system requirements. Training hours Minimum formal training hours for Level I & II Method Level I PT 16, MT 16, ET 40, UT 40, and RT 40 Method Level II (With Level I experience) PT 16, MT 16, ET 40, UT 40, and RT 40 Method Level II Direct Access (Without Level I experience) PT 32, MT 32, ET 80, UT 80, and RT 80 Experience Time in Hours* Minimum experience requirements for Level I & II. Method Level I PT 130, MT 130, ET 400, UT 400, and RT 400 Level II (With Level I experience) PT 270, MT 400, ET 1200, UT 1200, and RT 1200 Level II Direct Access (No Level I Certifications) PT 400, MT 530, ET 1600, UT 1600, and RT 1600 * Experience in multiple methods may be accumulated simultaneously. Experience in methods must be at least half this time when remaining time is in other NDT methods when approved by the Gulfstream Responsible Level 3.
