Coiled Spring Pins Vogelsang's Coiled Spring Pins have a special 2-1/4 helical wrap construction. This layering of lighter wall thickness material produces a most resilient and versatile component which is well suited for use with automated insertion equipment. Coiled pins, due to their unique construction, provide continued flexibility after insertion and act as a shock absorbing element in the application. Coiled pins, when properly sized, offer a minimum of 270° radial contact in the hole. This increased contact contributes to better load distribution and decreases the possibility of hole damage — especially when the hole is close to the edge, or in soft or thin material. Because of their helical wrap, coiled pins allow for wider hole tolerance and conform better to out-of-round and tapered holes than regular slotted spring pins.
