The SCANSTAR INSPECTION TECHNOLOGY PRIVATE LIMITED (SITPL) in Chennai provides high-quality training in the area of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). NDT is a group of techniques used in science and industry to analyze the properties of a material, component or system without causing damage. Since this type of testing does not permanently alter the item being inspected, it is a very valuable technique that can save both money and time in product evaluation, troubleshooting, and research.

o Radiographic testing – or industrial radiography, is a method of inspecting materials for hidden flaws by using the ability of short wavelength electromagnetic radiation to penetrate various materials. It is used in inspection of welds in the Automotive and Aerospace domains, construction of bridges etc.
o Ultrasonic Testing - Utrasonic testing is a non destructive testing where very short ultrasonic pulse-waves with frequencies ranging from 0.1-15MHz and occasionally up to 50 MHz are launched into materials to detect internal flaws. The technique is also used to determine the thickness of the testing objects, for example, to monitor corrosion inside pipes.
o Magnetic Particle Testing – Magnetic particle testing is a non destructive testing for detecting the surface and sub surface defects in ferrous materials. It is done by applying an external magnetic field or electric current through the ferrous materials. The defect in the ferrous materials is found using the principle of magnetic flux which will leave the area where the flaw is located. This method is also used for casting, forging etc.
o Liquid Penetrant Testing- Also known as Dye Penetration Testing. This is a method of non destructive testing for materials that are nonporous in nature. It is based on the capillary action, where surface tension fluid low penetrates into clean and dry surface breaking the discontinuities. It can be used to detect cracks, stress corrosion, inter-granular corrosion etc.
o Visual Testing - Visual testing is a non destructive testing method in which the reflected or transmitted light from a test object is imaged with a light sensitive device. Visual Inspection is done in combination with other methods of NDT. It can be used to inspect surface cracks, corroded surfaces, bubbles on the surface etc.
