The Ukrainian Society for Non-Destructive Testing was established at the meeting of the leading experts of the country, on October 28, 1990. The aim of the Society’s activity is consolidation of the efforts of scientists and engineers for development of their creative and business activity, information exchange, satisfying the professional interests, development of international contacts on NDT&TD.
The Society is registered at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. Society divisions are functioning in all the regions of Ukraine.
The main purpose of the Society is consolidation of the efforts of scientific and technical personnel working in the field of non-destructive testing and diagnostics, with the purpose of comprehensively solving the problems of improving the quality and reliability of industrial products and facilities, information exchange, widening the co-operation and international contacts and protection of common interests.
USNDT currently has more than 170 collective members, which include metallurgical, mechanical engineering, petrochemical, pipe, aircraft and shipbuilding companies, as well as scientific and industrial research institutes, universities and service organizations.
The President of the Society is Prof. V.A.Troitskiy, Department Head of the E.O.Paton Electric Welding Institute of National Academy of Science of Ukraine.
The main activities of the Society are as follows:
USNDT set up the National Certification Committee of Ukraine on NDT, which had the aim of organising the personnel certification in keeping with EN 473; rendered assistance to State Standardisation Organisation of Ukraine in setting up the Technical Committee on Standardisation ‘Technical Diagnostics and Non-Destructive Testing’ (TC-78), the aims of which are in tune with those of CEN/TC-138 and ISO/TC-135.
USNDT pays a lot of attention to contacts and co-operation with similar foreign societies. USNDT are the full member of European Federation on NDT (EFNDT) an International Commettee on NDT (ICNDT), a number of agreements were signed and negotiations were held on co-operation with the societies of Russia, Belarus, Poland, Czech, Croatia, Germany, Great Britain, Denmark, Italy, and others.
