Summary: ATS is currently seeking a NAS-410 NDT Level III for our Aerospace Program. Candidates will require a high level of motivation, very strong work ethic, must be detail oriented and want to help more junior technicians grow in their NDT roles. Applicants are encouraged to apply and should live near or be willing to relocate to the Marietta, Georgia vicinity. This is not a remote position.
Job Description: Aerospace NAS-410 Program Level III
Works directly with Aviation NDT Management in establishing and updating current method tests, procedures and ensuring NAS-410 regulatory requirements are maintained
Works directly FAA 145 Accountable Mgr. and Aviation NDT Group Lead in ensuring the companys repair stations are compliant with all required training and certification needs as per FAA and EASA requirements related to NAS-410 requirements
Reports to Avaition NDT Operations Manager
Updates and maintains the programs NDT Written Practice to meet company needs and regulatory requirements
Mentor and trains NDT technicians to achieve a high level of competence
Certifies new hire technicians and re-certificates existing technicians
Administers internal audits as requested and works with ATS quality and external customers to ensure compliance
Oversees and maintains all Avaition NDT Technician records related to NAS-410 and coordinates and /or administers training, annual maintenance, eye tests and related needs as applicable
Assists in implementing emerging NDT methods and techniques as defined by programs management team and program goals
Travels to domestic company facilities to facilitate training, certifications, and other technician / program requirements
Takes proactive steps and places failsafe measures to ensure all technicians are kept in a current state of certification
Attends seminars and classes for new and advanced equipment to later train NDT team in its use
Use of complex test equipment requiring a high level of attention to detail and inspection focus
Some travel both domestically and possibly internationally (<25%)
Meeting directly with customers and representing the ATS brand
Working in both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions as required (mainly indoor)
Occasional inspection of multiple aircraft types, space flight and aviation components, with differing manufacturers
Requirements & Preferences: Candidates must have the following credentials to apply and willing to perform the below duties.
Certifiable as a Level III in a minimum of 5 NDT methods that should include Visual (VT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Fluorescent Liquid Penetrant (PT), Eddy Current (ET), Ultrasonics (UT), Radiography (RT), (see "Table A" below for Level II hourly and classroom requirements, candidates must have documentation of prior experience and classroom) Also see Table III below for Level III requirements.
Must have at least 2 years working in the capacity of a Level III in 2 or more methods, prior Responsible Level III experience preferred, but not required
Must be certifiable to a Level III per NAS-410 requirements in ET, UT, RT and PT at a minimum (MT and VT are preferred, but considerations may by made for the right candidate)
Both digital and film RT prior certifications a preferred
PAUT experience a plus
Certifiable to NAS-410 Level II requirements (SNT-TC-1A for VT only) in minimum of 5 of methods (see "Table A" below for hourly and classroom requirements, candidates must have documentation of prior experience and classroom)
A minimum of 10 years prior aircraft experience (may be in a mechanical or quality capacity gained either in instructional or hands-on settings)
Experience with advanced NDT equipment such as C-Scan ET / UT and Phase Array systems
Willing to learn new methods and special processes and techniques and mentor team as required
Perform one on one structured training for unique NDT and Special process methods and processes
Able to master new technologies and teach less experienced inspectors
Graduated with High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Have strong retention and comprehension regarding the use of complex inspection systems
Willing to travel on short notice both internationally and domestically
Able to travel on short notice and have flexible schedule
High level of comprehension
Work well with others in a team environment or independently
Be self-motivated
Have excellent communication skills
Have basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Windows, Power Point)
Have good credit history
Able assist Level II and Level III inspectors with inspections and program related duties
Utilize strong organizational skills
Speak and write in the English language
Mentoring of less experienced inspectors
Must be able to pass FAA drug and alcohol tests
Must be able to pass ATS pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
Have clean drivers license
Willing to work overtime as required
Exercise prompt and consistent work attendance
Able and willing to wear safety equipment such as masks, gloves, respirators, hearing protection, eye protection and other personal protection equipment
Able to pass NDT and Special Process related ATS exams
Preferences:
Mechanical, Aeronautical or Science Degree
Certificated from aeronautical or related technical school
FAA A&P license holder
Special Processes experience such as chemical etch
Prior aircraft quality experience
Prior experience with blueprint interpretation
Experience with advanced NDT equipment such as C-Scan ET / UT and Phase Array systems
MAUS and/or Auss Mobile scanning system experience
NADCAP experience
Responsibilities:
Perform NDT and/or Special Process related inspections as required
Assist Level II and other Level III inspectors as required
Mentor co-inspectors as required to gain knowledge in unfamiliar inspection techniques
Maintains, develops and refines ATS NDT Written Practice document
Perform various duties as assigned by the Avaition NDT Operations Mgr.
Independently perform equipment setup and operation
Perform system performance checks as required
Protect intellectual and physical company property
Prioritize tasks under demanding conditions
Communicate at high level with other team members and NDT Management
Help unsure NDT Technicians are fully prepared for testing and inspection needs
Protection of issued communication and documentation equipment
Arrange for shipment of required tooling to jobsite and monitor tracking information (if applicable)
NAS-410 program and related ATS documents
Training, certifications and related records for technicians are kept in an organized and fully traceable manner
Oversees companys NAS-410 program for full regulatory compliance
Communicates program needs to Aviation NDT Management
Collaborates with Aviation NDT Operations Mgr. and Avaition NDT Group Lead to meet common program goals
Assists in advancement of NDT program and expansion
Work Conditions:
Indoor and outdoor conditions in all seasons (mainly indoor)
Travel to customer facilities
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Regular Travel (<25%)
Can travel of relatively short notice
