The Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Program is the only program of it's kind in Washington State. The Tenure Track Instructor will have the opportunity to work in a brand new state of the art facility that will be open for classes in Fall 2019. The Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing and operating a program designed to prepare students for entry-level careers in Non Destructive Testing.The successful candidate will develop, deliver and align curriculum, as required, to successfully achieve the college mission of Educating Tomorrow's Workforce.

Learn more about the NDT program that provides training in a variety of analysis techniques used to evaluate the properties of a material or structure without causing damage. Students explore and receive hands-on technical training in blueprint reading, codes and specifications, composite fabrication, assembly and repair, materials, and the manufacturing process. It is an extremely unique career path with potential to provide long-term employment, as well as personal and creative satisfaction in the knowledge that the work helps save lives and make things safer for use.

You will average 37.5 hours per week preparing curriculum, teaching your courses and providing office hours to engage and lead students to success. This position has been designated as a bargaining unit position represented by Clover Park Federation of Teachers Local 3913.

Duties and Tasks (Essential Functions)
Duty: Provide quality instruction and assessment of student learning outcomes.

Tasks include:

Provide individual and group student-centered instruction.
Prepare and modify instructional materials and methods based on student needs and feedback.
Develop creative, flexible and innovative ways to effectively serve the needs of a diverse student population.
Evaluate and document student comprehension through testing, observation and assessment of skills attained.
Follow approved curriculum. Assess and modify current curriculum as needed, following the college policy and procedure for curricular review and modification.
Provide support and guidance to students responding to their needs and providing career guidance.

Duty: Administrative functions and college support.

Tasks include:

Attend student recruitment and information session activities.
Document and keep accurate student records.
Follow college policies and procedures to obtain and maintain required equipment, systems, tools, supplies and materials.
Record and submit student grades in a timely manner.
Serve on department and college committees and participate in college enrollment activities.
Conduct program-specific student advising and equipment acquisition and maintenance training.
Skills:
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a minimum of one of the following:?

Current American Society for Non-destructive Testing (ASNT) Level III certificate in one or more of the following methods: Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (LT) and Visual & Optical Testing (VT) (per ANSI/ASNT CP 189, Paragraph 4.4.1.1); or
Bachelor's degree in Material Science or have academic credentials at least equivalent to a Bachelor of Science in engineering, physical science, or technology and process adequate knowledge in the NDT method to be taught (per ANSI/ASNT CP 189, Paragraph 4.4.1.2); or
An Associate's degree in science, engineering, NDT or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience as an NDT Level II, or equivalent, in one or more NDT methods: Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (LT) and Visual & Optical Testing (VT) (RT, UT, ET, MT, PT and VT) (ANSI/ASNT CP 189, Paragraph 4.4.1.3); or
High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of ten (10) years of NDT experience as an NDT Level 2, or equivalent, in the NDT method to be taught (per ANSI/ASNT CP 189, Paragraph 4.4.1.4). AND
CPR/First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens training card or acquire within 60 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience training and/or teaching in NDT or a related field.
Experience working with composite material, including manufacturing, repair and/or assembly.
Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) and experience with NDT of welds.
Familiarity with and commitment to the use of Open Education Resources (OER's).
