SUMMARY
Perform VT, MT, and PT Examinations in accordance with ASNT-TC-1A. Testing and inspection of products will be performed at various stages of production process in compliance with applicable codes, standards, or other specified requirements. Compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understand, comply, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment
• Shall have a practical knowledge of all production processes.
• Shall have the skills and knowledge to establish techniques; to interpret codes, standards, and specifications; designate the particular examinations methods, techniques, and procedures to be used; and to verify the adequacy of procedures.
• Develop and implement radiographic inspection procedures to include exposure controls, film processing, equipment maintenance, interpretation of film and proper radiation safety practices.
• Develop and implement ultrasonic inspection procedures to include equipment maintenance, equipment calibration, and interpretation of test results.
• Candidate must be experienced in training and development of lower level NDT personnel.
• Candidate must be knowledgeable with applicable industry standards specifications and procedures.
• Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams and confers with management or engineering staff to employ appropriate quality codes and standards.
• Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and test products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.
• Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
• Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical direction to the inspectors. Responsibilities include training, procedure development, tracking training hours, and proficiency of inspectors in NDT methods. Must lead and direct in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures including federal and state applicable laws.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk and hear or see. The associate is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The associate is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The associate must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently and maneuver up to 200 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL
Must be available to travel domestically when required.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Shall be qualified to establish techniques and procedures; interpreting codes, standards, specifications, and procedures; and designating the particular NDT methods, techniques, and procedures to be used.
• Shall have sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication, and product technology to establish techniques and to assist in establishing acceptance criteria where none are otherwise available.
• Shall have general familiarity with other appropriate NDT methods, as demonstrated by the ASNT Level III Basic examination or other means. The NDT level III, in the methods in which certified should be capable of training and examining NDT Level I and II personnel for certification in those methods.
• Proficiency with MS Project, Word, and Excel
• Working knowledge of metal fabrication and construction techniques
• 15+ years of progressive project experience in heavy civil construction environments
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure
• Strong verbal and written skills
• Ability to receive government clearance is required
• U.S. citizenship is required
• Individual should have at least 5 years experience supporting NAVSEA Program Managers.
• It is desired that the employee have a technical background in naval engineering and maintenance programs and a thorough understanding for budgeting and estimating costs for those types of activities.
• Must have a knowledge of and entrιe to NAVSEA, NSWC, MSC and USCG engineering codes and a proven ability to successfully market engineering services to them.
• Ability to make decisions on behalf of the company in accordance with company policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Shall have sufficient education, training, and experience to ensure understanding of the principles and procedures of those NDT methods in which they are being considered for certification.
• Documented training and/or experience gained in positions and activities equivalent to those of levels I, II, and/or III prior to establishment at Pegasus Steel.
• NDT level III shall have graduated from a minimum four year college or university curriculum with a degree in engineering or science, plus one year’s experience in NDT testing in an assignment comparable to that of an NDT Level II in the applicable NDT method(s), or
• Shall have completed with passing grades at least two (2) years of engineering or science study at a university, college, or technical school, plus two (2) years experience in assignments at least comparable to that of NDT level II in the applicable method(s), or
• Shall have four (4) years’ experience in an assignment at least comparable to that of NDT Level II in the applicable NDT method(s).
• Individual shall be qualified by examination in accordance with Pegasus Steel requirements.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions, information gathered from meters, dials or calibrated scales and visual display units. Must have the ability to receive and understand instructions via radio or phone and have the ability to summarize verbal instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must have the ability to add or subtract and multiply or divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and decimals. Must have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Must have the ability to follow instructions, in a logical order, given in oral, written, or diagram form. Must have the ability to apply quality standards against product and determine if defective and degree of defect. Must have the ability to compile information gathered during examination or testing.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
ASNT-TC-1A Certified NDT Level III who is capable of establishing techniques and procedures; interpreting codes and standards such as MIL-STD-248/NAVSEA S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248, MIL-STD-271/NAVSEA T9074-AS-GIB-010/271, and MIL-STD-278/NAVSEA S9074-AR-GIB-010/278, and designating the particular nondestructive testing methods, techniques, and procedures to be used. Level III technician must be capable of performing administrative, supervisory, or management responsibilities as required.
