WSDOT is replacing the world’s longest floating bridge, the SR 520 in Washington State. The Quality Assurance inspection has been awarded to O’neill Environmental Services. Based in Redmond, WA, O’neill is a team of professionals with relevant experience on several major transportation projects in the Puget Sound area. We are seeking multiple (3-4) QA inspectors to fill positions performing quality assurance testing and inspection of pontoon construction at the SR 520 pontoon casting basin in Aberdeen, in Tacoma building supplemental pontoons, and at Lake Washington at either Kenmore or Medina. Duties include verification that materials have been approved for use in construction, concrete and rebar inspection and testing, aggregate sampling, post tensioned multi-strand walls and slabs, electrical isolation and continuity, and documenting non conformances.
Skills:
QA inspection technicians shall inspect, verify materials, and document all construction activities for compliance to the contract. Minimum of 5 years of qualifying experience in heavy civil construction including concrete structure inspection. AWS CWI certification is preferred, although not necessarily required for all positions. NDT weld inspection skills are preferred as well.

QA Testing Technicians are to be qualified in accordance with AASHTO R-18 using the procedural checklists in the WSDOT Materials Manual. Testing Technicians qualified by ACI Level 1 will be considered qualified to perform concrete tests.

Inspectors/Testers should expect to be in a fast paced high production environment. Proper planning, safety, and alertness are mandatory. Inspectors/Testers must demonstrate competency to the satisfaction of the Quality Testing Supervisor, Construction Quality Assurance Manager, and WSDOT. It is advantageous to have experience in WSDOT design build projects, though not required.
It is also very advantageous to be proficient with Excel, digital photography, and very organized due to the constant updates incorporated into our work. All reports are electronic with pictures attached and are expected to be turned in by the morning following the inspection.
