The 2017 API Pipeline Conference will afford an opportunity for students participating in PHMSA’s CAAP (Competitive Academic Agreement Program) to share on their efforts. Between sessions, Pipeline Conference attendees can review posters detailing the research, as well as visit with the students completing the work. PHMSA launched CAAP in 2013 to provide funding for academic research and provide tomorrow’s pipeline safety workforce with an early opportunity to contribute safety solutions. In its first two years alone, CAAP has provided more than $1.5 million dollars to student researchers at the undergraduate, graduate, and PhD levels.
The 2017 Leak Detection Workshop will give attendees the opportunity to learn about developing, maintaining, and managing a robust pipeline leak detection program, as detailed in API RP 1175. The workshop will open with an executive panel that will highlight the importance of each company having a reliable and effective leak detection program. This will be followed by sessions on several subjects, including key aspects of API RP 1175 and how to perform a gap analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of a leak detection program. This workshop will provide the opportunity to learn from industry experts and engage with peers about their best practices. It is designed for individuals who are involved with leak detection programs (managers or safety/compliance staff), but is open to anyone who wishes to attend. The workshop is available at an additional fee. To register for the workshop, click "Register Now" on this page and follow the instructions. If you would like to attend the Pipeline Conference the days before, choose the appropriate selection for Pipeline Conference Only on the "Admission Items" page. Then, you will be given the option to also choose attendance at the Leak Detection Workshop on the next page.
