Sira, Nuclear Energy and Research, produces a compact, low cost, radiation tolerant camera which is available for use in harsh applications such as in-core monitoring in nuclear power plants. Sira's APS250 camera uses a 'spill box' configuration with a minature acamera head operated from a remote control box. The camera head itself is a mere 53cm diameter and 35mm long, making it ideal for use in tight spaces such as reactor cores. It uses a specially designed CMOS active pixel sensor and electronics to resist high raditaion doses The sensor is capable of withstanding elevated temperatures
