Lawrence Goldberg started Sea Test Services (STS) in 1985. L. Goldberg is a commercial diver and NDT scientist. Thus, the company specializes in underwater NDT of offshore structures, cabling, and riser inspections, and ABS and USCG surveys for "Underwater Inspection in Lieu of Drydocking". Sea Test Services writes recommended practices and provides performance demonstration initiatives (PDIs) to qualify NDT inspectors and divers for the major Oil and Gas Companies. STS provides these PDIs in NDT methods including MT, ET, UT, FMD, weld profiling and shallow and deep grinding for weld repairs. STS has conducted many research studies on various NDT techniques used topside and underwater for inspection of offshore structures. Sea Test has provided qualification services to the United States Navy, Exxon, Shell, Mobil, BP, Chevron, Marathon CNG, ExxonMobil, Trident, and Electric Power Research Institute.
Sea Test Services (STS)has also provided diving contractors with refresher courses in MT, ET, weld toe grinding, hammer peening, deep grinding for crack removal, and flooded member detection.
Helen Goldberg, Larry’s spouse, is presently the owner of Sea Test Services. She is integrally involved in Sea Test Services’ administration, research and development, inspections, and has advanced the development of the qualification programs. Larry and Helen Goldberg work as a team to provide STS clients innovative and effective NDT services worldwide.

Sea Test Services has been involved in NDT inspection since 1985. Research and development of NDT inspection methods has been a primary focus. STS is presently working on magnetic particle inspection for ROVs, and writing recommended practices for flooded member detection and eddy current.
