LEVEL I Course: MAY 12-15, 2008 OPTIONAL EXAM MAY 16TH.

Nondestructive Evaluation of Materials Using Pulsed Thermography
Snell Infrared, the industry leader in infrared education, is teaming with Thermal Wave Imaging, Inc., the world leader in infrared nondestructive test systems, are offering a Level I training course in Nondestructive Evaluation of Materials Using Active Thermography. This 4-day course meets the educational requirements of ANST SNT-TC-1A. An optional day is reserved for individuals with qualifying work experience wishing to take a three-part certification examination.

The course covers:
Learning to Think Thermally®
Heat transfer and radiation theory
Methods for thermal NDT
Determining application feasibility
Theory and practice of pulsed / active thermography
Hands-on use of EchoTherm® and ThermoScope® equipment
Overview of other infrared thermography applications
Hands-on problem solving

Who should take the course:
The course is recommended for those who are already using any type of active thermography system, as well as for those who are just exploring the technology. This includes technicians, engineers, and managers. Previous experience with the technology, while useful, is not required for the course. This course should be of interest to anyone that is involved with metals, composites, ceramics and polymers. Potential applications include: Delamination, contamination, wall thickness variations, fluid ingress, corrosion, cracking, impact damage, density – porosity variations, disbonds and inclusions.

Instructors:
Snell Infrared instructors hold ASNT Level III NDT
certificates in the Thermal / Infrared method, allowing the courses to serve as the cornerstone for the qualification and certification of inspection personnel in your company or organization. [Certification of personnel with qualifying work experience will be made by the employer based on their Written Practice, in accordance with the American Society of Nondestructive Testing document SNT-TC-1A, Personnel Qualification and Certification in Nondestructive Testing.] Dr. Steven Shepard, Physicist and President of Thermal Wave Imaging. He has numerous patents and publications in the field of thermographic NDE, and has served as a short course instructor for SPIE, ASNT, SME, numerous companies and government entities.

Who should take the course:
This LII course is specifically designed for people performing nondestructive testing of materials and composites utilizing the Thermal Wave EchoTherm® or ThermoScope® Systems. Although highly recommended, attendance at a LI thermal NDT course is not mandatory if the attendee is knowledgeable of the methods of heat transfer and the basic operation of TWI’s EchoTherm system. This course should be of interest to anyone that is involved with metals, composites, ceramics and polymers. Potential applications include: Delamination, contamination, wall thickness variations, fluid ingress, corrosion, cracking, impact damage, density – porosity variations, disbonds and inclusions.
