•Inspected and identified discontinuities on the KC-135 Stratotanker,
Gulfstream C-37, and Blackhawk helicopters, as well as other assorted
metallic objects using various testing methods. The techniques used were
Eddy Current Testing (ET), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle
Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT). Eddy Current Testing was
accomplished using a small portable unit called a Nortec 2000 and was
frequently used to detect fatigue cracks on KC-135 snubber brakes;
replacement averted nose gear damage. Ultrasonic Testing was
performed using a USN-52. This method was most often used for the
inspection of production brakes and boom on the KC-135 and for
inspecting the rotor hubs on the Blackhawk.
•Accomplished process controls for the testing methods to verify systems
were working properly, including the processing of cracked chrome panels
for penetrant or testing the magnetic particle unit with a ketos ring.
Accurate functioning of the transducers for ultrasonics was tested with
International Institute of Welders (IIW) Blocks or American Society Testing
Materials (ASTM) blocks with known defects.

•Inspected and identified discontinuities on the F-15 Strike-Eagle, F-16
Fighting Falcon, F-22 Raptor, A-10 Thunderbolt II, and HH-60 helicopters.
Techniques used were Eddy Current Testing (ET), Ultrasonic Testing (UT),
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiography
(RT), and Oil Analysis.
