Highway to the No Danger Zone

Composites enable lighter, robust structures with better protection against fatigue, impact, and corrosion – the ideal material for the aerospace sector. But with advantages of strength and light weight composite parts also comes increased manufacturing costs due to labor intensive techniques. Aerospace companies have previously been limited by suppliers unable to deliver parts, already carrying a higher raw material cost, in the volume required. The introduction of automation and robotics in composites manufacturing has resulted in higher productivity at lower costs. Aerospace manufacturers are now looking at automated inspection for the same benefits. With regulatory conditions to examine every single aerospace component, non-destructive testing (NDT) can slow down operations. Naturally, we present the Beyond Current solution.

Revolutionizing Industrial Safety: Innovative Inspection Technologies for Sprinkler Systems

We’re all about making it rain... when it’s right. Corrosion and microbiologically influenced corrosion, also known as MIC, remains an ongoing concern in industrial sprinkler systems. Despite initial designs intended to last for decades, the reality is that over 70% of dry systems require pipe replacement after a mere 12 years. While some mitigation measures like nitrogen-filled systems, galvanized steel, and biocides can slow down the corrosion process, they don't guarantee complete prevention. Two innovative non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, guided wave ultrasonic testing (GWUT) and magnetic flux leakage (MFL), have proven to be well suited for inspecting sprinkler pipework; let’s take a closer look.
