In January of 2019, Pinnacle X-Ray Solutions (PXS Inc.), an Original Equipment Manufacturer of digital x-ray and computed tomography turn-key systems and solutions, expanded its portfolio by opening new doors to PiXL. PiXL (Pinnacle industrial X-Ray Laboratory) is a 5,000 sq. ft facility providing leading edge X-Ray/CT inspection solutions.
PiXL’s functions and focus are to provide end-to-end solutions for customers, not only interested in the technology, but required to perform inspections by their end-users and industry quality specifications. The capital investment process has proven to be difficult and lengthy and with the addition of the lab, Pinnacle is able to provide streamline solutions.
Most laboratories provide inspection solutions with film or computed radiography. These methods are highly used and fully capable of meeting the requirements. However, overall inspection lead-time is typically much longer due to manual setup for inspection. PiXL, with the use of Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) programming, easily shortens the lead-time issue for customers looking for immediate results. In addition, PiXL provides approved digital imaging back to the customer in various forms of digital data including statistical summaries, POD testing, and technique development. This provides value added information to each individual customer business case.
Navigating the arduous approval process in Aerospace, Defense, Medical and other industries can be not only time consuming, but extremely difficult to achieve. Within less than 8 months, PiXL received NADCAP and Aerospace Quality Systems AC7004 (AS9100 equivalent) certifications to perform Digital Radiography inspection. PiXL has certified NAS410 inspectors to perform interpretation of image data, correlation studies, training, and part certification. In addition to the approvals, PiXL is also compliant with ITAR/EAR and NIST 800-171.
PiXL has five (5) X-Ray/CT systems dedicated to contract work with new technology and growth in the coming year. Systems range from 130kV (microfocus) to 500kV (mini/macro-focus), with large working envelops up to fifty (50) inches. PiXL can provide certified inspection results of the product, as well as work closely with customers to develop a robust digital imaging technique which meets industry (ASTM) and many other prime OEM standards. As the demand for aerospace, space, automotive, medical, and additive manufacturing continues to increase, PiXL is ready and strategically prepared to take on these inspection challenges.
