-- This role will have a certain level of autonomy that will require you to be onsite with clients as the sole representative of Fickett.
-- This role requires documented proof of training and experience to meet the ASNT Level II requirements to ASNT SNT-TC-1A and/or CP-189
If the above is good for you… here are the rest of the details about the position and instructions to apply.
This is who we are and what we do:
Since 2001, Fickett Structural Solutions has been on a mission to keep the country’s infrastructure safe. It is why we get out of bed each morning. We have employees all over the United States, though our main offices are in Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Olympia, and Madison, WI, which is where you will be working from.
This is how we do it:
Fickett Structural Solutions, Inc. serves public and private owners in the A/E/C industry by providing inspection, testing, engineering, and consulting services of both "horizontal" and "vertical" structures from fabrication through the life cycle of the structure.
Ensuring public safety and structural performance is what we do. We strive to build solid, long-term relationships through education, honesty and openness – as well as our work ethic, and the diligent completion of every task.
Our company core values:
-- Teamwork
-- Trust
-- Commitment to relationships
-- Humble
-- Hungry
-- Smart
We are a company that cares about relationships and results - not punch cards or time sheets.
The clock isn’t the great determinator of value. Your results and relationships are.
If you are looking for "just another job" this is not the role for you.
Details about the position:
Who you are:
Trust and integrity are your north stars. You must be passionate about the details, curious, and confident that you are the MT/UT Level II / CWI expert our clients need.
You are a skilled professional who thrives on working on challenging projects and are confident in your abilities.
You are able to provide accurate inspection reports and recommend necessary and appropriate repairs.
Not only are you proficient in your job, but you are also accustomed to going the extra mile to complete a job, even if it means working long hours in difficult environments.
You are equally skilled in handling client interactions professionally.
With your leadership and mentoring abilities, you will thrive in a company that values education.
You protect our culture of treating our clients and eachother with respect.
In addition to being strong technically, you pride yourself on having good judgment and intuition when dealing with others and to understand the impact of people’s words and actions.
You are someone who is very detail and task oriented, but can also see the big picture of the project. You strive on closing loops with data, making sure that all t’s are crossed and i’s dotted.
You possess critical thinking and excellent communication skills and enjoy working collaboratively with coworkers, contractors, and clients to achieve a common goal.
You are someone who is motivated to succeed and help those around you succeed.
You are OK being on a small team, and working across different offices with different personalities.
You believe in the pursuit of excellence. Not just getting something done, but rising to the occasion and bringing your best to each interaction you have with the team and clients.
You are looking for a place to call home, not just your next paycheck.
Specific Qualifications:
This role requires documented proof of training and experience to meet the ASNT Level II requirements to ASNT SNT-TC-1A and/or CP-189. The ideal candidate has also attained an AWS CWI certification or the ability to attain it. We also value ICC certifications in welding and bolting as well as AMPP (NACE/SSPC) certifications in paint inspection.
You will also be able to successfully pass NDT Level II Certification to Fickett Structural Solutions’ NDT Written Practice for our internal certification requirements in MT and UT.
You are proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, etc., and are not scared of technology. You can handle out-of-town work, which requires overnight stays as necessary.
We would appreciate SPRAT rope access certification Level I or higher, or a willingness to attend training to attain SPRAT certification.
What you'll be doing:
You will use your skills and experience to plan and perform inspection and testing services on various buildings, bridges, and waterway infrastructure.
You will participate in developing customer proposals and negotiations.
You will be in a responsible position to provide input and leadership for other employees.
You will be a positive contributor to the company in helping us to offer the best services possible to our clients.
You will work out of our Madison, WI Office with a primary focus on southern Wisconsin.
In addition, there may be opportunities to support other projects throughout the country.
Why you should be interested in this role:
This role is a critical part of the inspection team at Fickett.
You are ensuring that every structure they inspect is built to current standards to keep our country safe.
You will work autonomously as well as with other inspectors and engineers in support of our NDT services. We want you to be able to take ownership over your duties and will provide training, but we do not want to have to micromanage you and how you tackle your day and to-dos once you are up and running. We want you to be able to make a plan and follow it through.
This position promises to be one that will be interesting, challenging, and expand your skill sets exponentially.
Why this job is important:
This is a multidimensional role that will serve both public and private clients.
For our public clients, we provide Third Party Quality Assurance Inspections. These inspections are in place to oversee the welding and fabrication of various hydraulic steel structures (HSS). HSS includes dams and other water control structures.
We write Quality Assurance Plans, we oversee the Quality Control of the fabrication shop where the work is being completed and we inspect the actual fabrication, welding, bolting, and painting of the structures using nondestructive testing (NDT). There are times where the client will ask us to go to the site where the structure will be installed to verify there wasn’t any damage during transportation. We will also be asked to inspect repairs that are performed as well.
This role will also support our bridge inspection services but not as frequent as the work mentioned above. With bridges, you will inspect welds primarily but also bridge pins using NDT.
For our private clients, you’ll perform similar work, but on buildings to ensure their buildings are built as designed as per project specifications. We inspect shop fabrications, field welds including moment connections, stud welding, bolting operations, and general steel erection practices.
The owners, whether bridges, dams, or buildings are trusting us to be their eyes and ears and ensuring their assets perform as expected.
Bottom Line:
If you are loyal, self inspired, organized, detail oriented, curious/like to learn, a critical thinker who values quality work, you could be who we have been searching for!
Compensation:
This role is hourly ranging from $37/hour - $42/hour depending on your experience level with room for growth as your tenure increases.
Directions to apply:
If you would like to be considered for the position, please submit your resume and cover letter telling us what excites you most about this role and working with Fickett. Any applications that do not follow the above directions, will not be considered.
