Position Purpose:
* The main function of the Manager of NDE Engineering is to provide operational support to the Operations Manager to inspect and ensuring that all assigned projects meet or exceed the budgeted profit, expense, and cost goals as well as the productivity and other related performance goals that have been established by Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Analyze, audit, and interpret film, data, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, and measuring instruments required.
* Notify supervisors and other personnel of quality problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these concerns.
* Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
* Prepare, set-up, and complete all necessary paperwork, in a timely manner.
* Conduct internal audits; documents and analyses audit results.
* Observe and monitor operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process or adjustments.
* Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
* Analyze test data, making computations as necessary, to determine test results.
* Prevent unauthorized personnel from entering work areas.
* Evaluate and interpret results according to the code of construction or customers specifications.
* Train, coach, and mentor Assistant's, Technicians and other employees in quality workmanship and best practices. Responsible for assessing code work.
* Conduct performance demonstrations evaluations to assure competency of the field and laboratory technician staff
* Ability to meet and maintain eligibility to drive a company vehicle per current company policy.
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
* Properly interpret regulations, codes, and industry standards.
* Identify circumstances that necessitate the use of proper safety procedures and equipment
* Communicate and deal with customers and other parties in person in such a manner as to benefit the professional reputation of the company
* Maintain a strong customer service focus
* Complete all required training, including tests, within company guidelines
* Be proficient with standard computer software (such as MS Office Suite) and be able to write detailed inspection reports while maintaining an organized system of files.
* Maintain a positive relationship between Applus RTD, the facility, and the client.
* Maintain and promote a positive attitude towards Co-workers and Customers.
* Follow and enforce the Company required safe work practices and procedures at all times.
* Perform other job related tasks as assigned by management.
Education and Work Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree + Seven (7) years relevant materials testing experience
* 5 years' general industry experience in QA/QC
* 3 Years of Supervisory Level
* 3 Years of Field Supervisor
* Documentation of work experience in pit depth measurement or other dimension verifications using precision measuring equipment and recording results (preferred).
* Must have the ability to maintain company certification standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Train, coach, and mentor Assistant's, Technicians and other employees in quality workmanship and best practices. Responsible for assessing code work.
* Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment for all staff ensuring all company policies are being followed.
* Maintain and promote a positive attitude toward all direct employees, coworkers, and clients.
Certificates and Licenses Required:
* Certification as an Inspector required in most cases (or equivalent approved by client). Extensive practical experience required.
* NICET Level IV certification in materials Testing Preferred.
* Must have the ability to meet the following company certification standards:
ACI Field Testing Technician - Concrete
* ACI Strength Testing Technician
* ACI Laboratory
* Nuclear Densometer Training
* Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program.
