POSITION SUMMARY:
The Operations Manager is responsible for meeting the customer’s needs and assuring good customer service through managing the day-to-day operations of the lab. This includes scheduling projects and technicians, supplying equipment to meet project specifications, developing strong customer relations and reacting promptly to customer questions and concerns. The Operations Manager will also maintain a high functioning employee base through solid HR practices and safety education and awareness programs.
This position is located in Northern California.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
•Manage daily activities and costs associated within the department.
•Supervise individuals within the Operations Support Department as it relates to projects and responding to calls from customers (branches) requesting technical assistance.
•Problem solving and providing clear, supported and concise recommendation to management.
•Properly complete all required forms and paperwork.
•Ensure proper use of all company resources; including tools, equipment and vehicles.
•Oversee maintenance of shop and equipment.
•Evaluate field technician’s effectiveness in fulfilling their job requirements.
•Recommend corrective or remedial action for employees.
•Understand all prerequisites required of personnel before performing field work.
•Serve as liaison with customers to estimate and quote project work.
•Coordinate and schedule work crews to cover customer requirements and requests.
•Coordinate schedules of AVS Technicians per customer demands.
oReview reports for grammatical errors
•Complete all required training, and testing, within company guidelines.
•Knowledge of all company products and services that is available to our customers.

oPurchasing of Equipment
General Functions (cont.):
•Job File Auditing
•Handle employee disputes/complaints/comments/requests
•Pulls and distributes materials, tools or other stock items in order to fill technician requests.
•Prepares merchandise for shipment, as required.
•Completes requisition forms to order additional equipment and supplies.
•Monitors and tracks equipment on a daily basis by job site, type, and usage.
•Maintains a detailed record of all call-out work schedules.
•Prepares purchase orders for rental equipment, and tracks each piece of rented equipment by jobsite and job number.
•Generates purchase orders for repairs and/or required maintenance.
•Purchases small tools and any supplies needed for the equipment and /or work crews.
•Issues purchase orders in accordance with company policy and accounting system.
•Keep inventory up- to –date.
•Updating weekly schedule
•Maintain and update vehicle records including DMV registration and current insurance.
•Perform call-out personnel performance appraisals
•Other duties as assigned by GM
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•3-5 years of management experience in the nondestructive testing (NDT) or related field
•Strong knowledge of nondestructive testing.
•Strong communication skills to promote good team environment
•Strong Illogical Thinking abilities
•Sales and/or marketing experience a plus
•College course work is highly desirable, but not required.
•Effective communicator with the ability to mitigate emotional customer and employee situations.
•Must possess an understanding of MISTRAS’ Advanced Technology offerings.
•Must have strong customer relation skills.
•High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three years of related experience and /or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Valid Driver’s License
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
•Speak effectively before groups of customer or employees.
•Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
•Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations.
•Proficiency with word processing software, spreadsheet software, email software, and the use of the internet.
